These turkey burgers are juicy, flavorful, easy to make, and a perfect meal whether it’s grilling season or you’re just craving some burgers at home. While the recipe is relatively simple, I can promise you that the burgers are still incredible and will surpass your expectations with any combination of toppings.

I personally have barely any restrictions when it comes to food, so I’ve eaten many normal beef burgers before. Unfortunately, my family doesn’t dabble too far outside of meat other than poultry so we never really end up eating burgers (other than vegetarian ones). I decided to change that by trying out turkey burgers for the first time and to my surprise, they turned out amazing. They weren’t dry at all (which is a challenge when it comes to turkey) and in fact, they were maybe even juicier than some beef burgers I’ve tried in the past. Before we get into the recipe, just a side note: I decided to do a semi-traditional burger style however you can substitute any of the toppings with your own.

Ingredients

For the burger:

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 yellow onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic either minced or grated
  • 2/3 cup fresh cilantro, sliced thinly (OPTIONAL)
  • 3 1/2 tbs soy sauce
  • 1 tbs sriracha (or another hot sauce if you prefer)
  • 1/2 tbs grated ginger
  • Olive oil

For the toppings:

  • Sliced tomato
  • Caramelized onions
  • Sriracha mayo
  • Sliced Pepper Jack cheese
  • Brioche buns

Directions

1Start off by adding some olive oil to a pan and then add the garlic and onion. Cook until the onion is translucent and aromatic and then remove from the heat, letting it cool.

2Add the turkey to a bowl, followed by the soy sauce, sriracha, Cilantro, Ginger, and then the cooked onions and garlic. Mix it all together and then in the same pan you cooked the onions in (if you’re not grilling), start heating up some more oil.

3Now, just form patties, making sure to add a divot in the center to stop it from expanding, and then cook the burgers till they reach an internal temperature of 165°F. Once you flip the burgers, add a slice of cheese to the top of the burgers and close the lid (of the grill or pan).

4During that step, you can also start toasting your buns. Now, just plate them up by adding some sriracha mayo to the bottom bun and then stack the burger, lettuce, tomato, and onions. Enjoy!
