This Apple Crisp is the perfect dessert for any occasion, not only because it’s delicious, but it’s also extremely simple to make. Pair it with some ice cream of your choice and you’ve got an all-around amazing dish to satisfy your sweet tooth.

This dish has been around in my family for a long time, we always go to it whenever we need a quick, simple, and delicious dessert. Over the years we’ve been trying to make it healthier as well and in this current rendition, I think I’ve found a great balance between keeping the great flavors that we all know and love in the apple crisp while dialing down on the guilt and unhealthiness.

Ingredients

  • 4 Large Apples sliced (We used Honey Crisp)
  • 5 tbs sugar
  • Pinch of Cinnamon
  • Pinch of Sea Salt
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 6 tbs butter, cut into small cubes, split into 5 and 1 tbs

Directions

1Start by preheating ht oven to 350°F. Then add half the sugar and the cinnamon to the apples. Mix that up well and add it into an 8 x 8 baking pan, preferably glass.

2Then, in that same bowl (without removing any apple juices left in it), mix the oats, flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Then, add the 5 tbs butter cubes into the dry ingredients, slowly incorporating the butter into the topping with it gradually melting from the heat from your hands.

3Now, add the topping over the apples, and then add the remaining butter cubes on top, spreading them out evenly across the surface. Now, just bake it for 40 minutes, optionally top with some ice cream, and enjoy!
