Everyone loves the fruity deliciousness of jellies and jams, but what if I said they could be made even better? This jam is the perfect blend of sweet and spicy, where the strawberry and the pepper meld beautifully to pack every bit of this jam with flavor.

This jam is a family staple for us. We make it every summer after our annual strawberry picking trip and backyard pepper garden harvests. We make sure we have enough to last us the whole year… which means we make a lot. We started seeing the mixture of fruits and peppers at farmers’ markets and had been obsessed with these jams for a long time, but we never thought of making it ourselves up until a few years back. Now, however, we make sure that our fridges are always stocked with this jam. Feel free to mix and match the berries and peppers to suit your own taste, but what’s below is exactly what we did to get the flavors perfect. Also, if you wish to sterilize the jam and jars for pantry storage, there are probably tutorials online however we just keep the jam in the fridge as to not worry about that.

Ingredients

  • 4 Cups Crushed Strawberries
  • 4 Cups Monk Fruit Sweetener (can be substituted with 4 cups normal sugar)
  • 2 oz Fruit Pectin
  • 3 Jalapeños (minced)
  • 1 Habanero Pepper (minced)
  • 3 Tbsp Lemon Juice

Directions

1First add the crushed berries, peppers, lemon juice, and pectin into a saucepan and bring the mixture to a light simmer. As you’re doing this there might be cloudy stuff that floats to the top of the pan, remove it for a clearer final product.

Next, add the sugar/sweetener in and boil on high for another couple of minutes and keep skimming the stuff off the tp if there’s more.

Finally, pack the jam into jars and let refrigerate for at least a day. This lets the pectin set and the jam-like consistency form. Then, once it’s ready you can enjoy it however you want! From a sandwich to enjoying with crackers, there are endless possibilities to choose from!
