This fresh, flavorful, and versatile tomato sauce is the perfect sauce to use in pasta, pizza, or if you’re really crazy, as a backup for marinara (if you ever run out). No more buying those jarred tomato sauces from your local grocery store, and instead you can make this easy yet amazing sauce for yourself.

Ingredients

  • 1 can of San Marzano tomatoes
  • 1 clove of garlic (sliced or minced)
  • Chili Flakes
  • Chili Powder
  • Oregano
  • Garlic and/or Onion Powder (optional)
  • Salt and Pepper (to taste)
  • Sugar (if needed)
  • Olive Oil

Directions

1Heat olive oil in a saucepan and then add the garlic. Let the garlic infuse before adding the chili flakes to the mix and let it sit for a bit.

2Then, add the can of San Marzano tomatoes and crush them slightly, but not too much because the sauce will be blended later as well. Let the sauce heat to a low simmer.

3

Add the oregano, chili powder, and optionally the garlic and onion powders. Keep simmering the sauce for around 35-40 minutes (or until the right consistency is reached as well).

4Although after that amount of simmering any bitterness should’ve left the sauce adjust with sugar at the end if required. Now, just blend the sauce in a blender and its finished. Now you can enjoy it on pizza, pasta, or anything else too!
