These delicious bites are a great way to get cauliflower into your diet in a flavorful way. This dish packs a spicy kick along with sweet and salty, all in one tasty package.

I’d definitely consider myself an Asian food fanatic. I love to mix and match different sauces and combine them to pair with any tasty vessel i can find. In this case, I used crispy cauliflower pieces to act as a carrier for all the flavor in that sauce.

Ingredients

For the sauce:

  • 1/3 cup schezwan sauce
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon siracha
  • Salt and Pepper (to taste)
  • Grated Ginger

For the Cauliflower:

  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup corn starch
  • Salt and Pepper (to taste)
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 cup ice cold water

Directions

1Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl and add a pinch of Kosher Salt. Then add the egg and water and mix. The batter should be thin. Next, let cauliflower rest in the batter, making sure that there’s batter on all of the florets.

2While letting the cauliflower rest, prepare the sauce. Add all the ingredients for the sauce into a saucepan and turn on medium heat. Let the sauce simmer until it reaches the desired consistency, which is thick and sticky (10-12 minutes).

3Keep in mind, the sauce will thicken more after cooling so take it off the heat a bit before it reaches the right stage.

4Now, cover a large skillet with a light layer of Canola Oil and heat on high until shimmering. Then fry the cauliflower, making sure to flip for crispy goodness on all sides of the cauliflower.

5Fry in batches and when each batch is done, place onto a paper towel lined plate to absorb excess grease.

6Once all the cauliflower is fried, toss it in a bowl with your sauce, making sure to cover all the pieces. Now you’re ready to serve up your Crispy Asian Cauliflower Bites!
